Junior golfers completed their second round at Sunny Hill Golf Course in Brimfield in the 14th Matt Mishler Junior Portage County Amateur.
While several golfers held a solid lead that they maintained through the final round, others moved up the leaderboard during the second round to capture their age-division title.
BOYS 13-to-15 AGE DIVISION

Liam Curtis of Stow fired the low round in the clubhouse on his second day, an even-par 71, to top previous leader and runner-up overall, Matt Fiedler of Stow.
James Morgan of North Benton also moved up the leaderboard, firing a second-day 82 to earn the third place trophy with a final total of 162.
Fiedler, sliding into second place, totaled the low round for the boys, a 72 his first day at Windmill but struggled with his putting the second day at Sunny Hill but still earned the runner-up award.
GIRLS 16-19 DIVISION

Brooklyn Millard of Aurora started at the top of the leaderboard her first day with the low round at Windmill, a one-over-par 71 and followed that 18-holes with a five-over-par 76 to earn the championship with a two-day total of 147.
Millard, the girls Player of the Year for both the Record-Courier Best of Preps and the Suburban American Division in 2020, remained steady as Abigail Retherford of Ravenna played a solid round of 78 to earn the runner-up trophy. Retherford is a member of the boys varsity team for the Ravens.
Rounding out the Division top three was Maren Seaholts of Kent, the 2020 Jr. Amateur defending champion.
Retherford and Seaholts were both Record-Courier Best of Preps honorees this 2020-2021 school year.
BOYS 16-19 DIVISION

James Fliss of Hudson was on fire at Sunny Hill, carding a second-day 73 to add to his division-leading 82 the first day for a total 154 strokes, Fliss maintained a 10-stroke cushion over two Rootstown Rover golfers, Mason Bartholomy and Cole Hostetler, to round out the top three champions in the division.
GIRLS 13-15 DIVISION

Maddie Kost of Kent sailed to the top of the division during the first round, carding a 75 and then returned to add a 77 on the final day for a 152 total.
Gracie Westover, a member of the Southeast Lady Pirates in the PTC League, earned second place with a second-day round that improved by three strokes over her first day.
Ashlyn Leavery of Kent played steady golf during her two-day tournament to take third place over Anna Picicco of Kent by 11 strokes.
GIRLS 12 AND UNDER DIVISION

Good friends and future members of the Southeast Lady Pirates varsity golf team, Samantha Morgan of North Benton and Jennifer Mix of Diamond finished with only a difference of seven strokes when the final putt dropped for the girls’ youngest division.
Morgan earned the championship, firing a two-day total of 100 as Mix scored a 107 to take the runner-up spot.
