On Sunday, July 13th, the Northern Ohio Golf Association and the Women’s Ohio State Golf Association conducted the first round of the 49th Ohio Junior Girls Championship at Marion Country Club in Marion, Ohio.
Serena Wu was able to put up another impressive performance in competition, as she will take a two-stroke lead into the second day of the Ohio Junior Girls Championship. The 2024 1st Team All-State Honoree drained four birdies on the front-nine alone, and six total on the day. Wu, who is a member of the Team Ohio junior team, will look to continue her consistent play at Noon tomorrow in the final grouping of the day.
The only other player to finish under par on Sunday was Elizabeth Coleman, who posted a one-under par 71 to claim solo second going into Day 2. The Medina native was able to kick it into gear after a 37 on the front nine, knocking down three birdies on the back-nine, including one on 18 to give Coleman some momentum going into Round 2.
Rounding out the final group for the second day of the 49th Ohio Junior Girls Championship is Sophia Stanton. The Taylor University Golf commit was able to sneak her way into the final group after posting a bogey free back nine that included three birdies. Stanton finished the day at even par and currently sits three shots back of Serena Wu with 36 holes to play.
