His three wins are tied for the most by any player this season on PGA TOUR Champions with Ángel Cabrera

Rookie Freddie Jacobson (5th) shot 67 and sits 3-under after two rounds. The 50-year-old seeks his first win on PGA TOUR Champions (12th start).
Best finish: T2 (2025 Hoag Classic)

Looking to win three consecutive senior majors, Ángel Cabrera posted 68 and sits T9 at 1-under. The 55-year-old won the first two majors of the 2025 season (Regions Tradition, Senior PGA Championship).

First-round co-leader Søren Kjeldsen carded 2-over 72 and sits T9 at 1-under.

For the second consecutive day, there were no eagles recorded.

 

HAPPENING TOMORROW

Volunteer of the Year Award – Dave Franklin Award

Tomorrow at 8:45 a.m. Northern Ohio Golf Charities will announce the recipient of the Dave Franklin Award, given to the tournament’s volunteer of the year. The ceremony will take place at Volunteer Headquarters on-site. Media are welcome to attend and interview the winner.

Concert Series: Rockin’ on the Green

All tournament ticket purchases will include access to that day’s Concert Series, located in the Kaulig Infinity Zone, which will begin once play concludes. Tomorrow will honor the City of Akron’s 200th Birthday featuring performances from local guitar phenom,
The Michael Weber Show followed by Red Wanting Blue, a group of Midwestern rock heroes.

The Monster Deck

The Monster Deck presented by Westfield will provide great views of the signature 16th hole, nicknamed the Monster by Arnold Palmer, measuring 667 yards. This area will feature half-price beers after a birdie is made on the 16th green.

Davey Tree Courtyard

Next to the iconic 17th green at Firestone, enjoy a shaded seating area courtesy of The Davey Tree Expert Company. Greenside seats and picnic tables will be located beneath trees to the golfer’s left of the green so that spectators can watch the players navigate
one of the most difficult greens on the South Course.
