Lincoln Miller (Concord) left no doubt at the end of his round today at Manakiki of his claim to the top honors in the North Coast Junior Tour’s Boys 16 to 19 age group. Tied for the lead as he walked onto his 17th hole of the tournament, the par four 8th, Miller posted two consecutive birdies to conclude his round and post a two stroke victory over Jayden Park (Pepper Pike) (40-38–78).
Miller’s four over par 76 (38-38) paced the field on the always challenging Manakiki track. Ty Roediger (Chardon) was a stroke back with a 79 (40-39).
Preston Tolnar (Canfield) played steady golf throughout the day to post a one stroke victory in the Boys 15 and Under Age Division. Tolnar carded no worse than a bogey while putting up matching nines of 41 to finish at ten over par 82. Tour newcomer Luca Parrotta (Mayfield Village) birdie his 17th hole, the par four 8th, to share the lead with Tolnar but a bogey on his final hole left him one stroke off the pace at 83 (41-42). Punderson winner Iulio Braho (University Heights) was one behind Parrotta with an 84 (42-42).
Sometimes surviving is good enough. That’s the lesson that Maggie Kothera (Kirtland) learned today at Manakiki as an uncharacteristic round of 49-54–103 was 12 strokes off of her 2025 NCJT Tournament scoring average but proved to be just enough to take home the win. Kothera finished 2 strokes ahead of Samantha Miller (Solon) who recovered from a tough opening hole to card a 53-52–105. Miller looks to get payback on Thursday at Signature of Solon, her home course.
