The 2025 U.S. Junior Amateur Qualifier for the Cleveland area was conducted by the Northern Ohio Golf Association on Wednesday, at Silver Lake Country Club. Seventy-four Juniors braced the rainy conditions for a chance at the three qualifying spots at Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas on July 21-26.
Jonas Borland was unfazed by the wet conditions, posting seven birdies on the day. The Wright State University Golf commit started and finished his front-nine with back-to-back birdies. After starting the back-nine a little slower, two-over through three, Borland was able to shift the momentum by hitting his second shot on the par-5 16th to fourteen feet, turning into a tap in birdie. This would propel him to a two-stroke victory and the medalist honors.
Sam Fauver and Aaron Xu both found themselves in a five-man playoff for the final two qualifying spots and the two alternate spots. Both Sam and Aaron would play the 10th hole to perfection, making birdie from just over ten feet each to punch their ticket to Trinity Forest.
In a surprise momentum switch, Ross Dietz holed out from the bunker on the first playoff hole to stay alive for the second alternate position. Ross would go on top claim the final alternate spot on the ensuing hole.
