On Wednesday, 17 women competed in the 2026 U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Qualifier at Portage Country Club in Akron. 4 players in the field earned the opportunity to play in the 39th U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship held at Montclair Golf Club in West Orange, New Jersey, August 29 – September 3, 2026.
Ontario, Canada, native and Grand Valley State University alum Alexandra Taylor took the win and the first qualifying spot in the Championship after shooting the only under-par score for the day at 2-under-par 69.
Following just behind Taylor at even-par was Stefani Markovich, also an Ontario native. Markovich remained steady throughout the day, carding 2 even-par nines to earn her way into the Championship.
Earning the third qualifying spot was Michigan’s Isabella Gimenez after finishing just 3-over-par at 74. Gimenez carded 4 birdies throughout her round to secure her spot.
The final qualifying spot was decided by a 3-way, sudden-death playoff between South Carolina’s Olivia Hochschwender, Rayland, Ohio’s Emily Holzopfel, and Toledo, Ohio’s Sabrina Coffman.
As a result of the playoff, the final qualifying spot was earned by Hochschwender. The first alternate is Coffman, while the second alternate is Holzopfel.
