Manakiki Golf Course in Willoughby Hills hosted 60 of the area’s best amateur golfers this weekend in the first of the Cleveland Metroparks GCAC qualifying events.
Mike Simpson started the day in the lead, making 3 birdies right off the bat. He finished up the tournament with a 1-over, 73 to earn himself the win and a qualifying spot.
Steve Blackburn put pressure on Simpson throughout the day, carding a 4-under, 68. Blackburn finished the tournament just 1 shy of the lead at +1 for the weekend.
Chris Okeson, Lucas Liberatore, and Shaun Kloetzer rounded out the podium. The three all finished up 4-over par for the weekend.
With 6 golfers pre-qualified for the event, 9 more joined in qualifying for the GCAC.
