The Greater Cincinnati Golf Association’s 117th Tony Blom Metropolitan Amateur Championship at Heritage Club in Mason concluded on Saturday.
After stroke play qualifying to start the week and matches that lasted into the weekend, Alex Lilly took home the trophy for this year’s Championship.
Runner-up, Daniel Heister, took his Semifinal match to 19 holes, so he was no stranger to the pressure going into the Final match. Ultimately, Lilly won the match on Saturday in 4 & 3, defeating the Mason native.
Lilly and Heister came into the Match Play bracket as the 31st and 32nd seeds, respectively. The two upset nearly every match they played to earn their titles by the end of the week.
