PERRYSBURG, Ohio — Drew Salyers of Howard, Ohio, and Mike Stone of Perrysburg captured their respective divisions Tuesday at the 96th Habitec Toledo Open at Belmont Country Club. Salyers won the Regular Division at 10-under 134, while Stone claimed the Senior Division at 4-under 140 after 36 holes of stroke play.
Salyers, a past Ohio Open champion, opened with a 3-under 69 before firing a final-round 65 to finish one shot ahead of Jake Scott of Strongsville, who posted rounds of 68-67 for a 9-under 135. Brandon Hoelzer of Fort Myers, Florida, and Joseph Juszczyk of Dearborn Heights, Michigan, tied for third at 7-under 137. Brookside Country Club Director of Instruction Blake Sattler finished fifth at 4-under 140, while Brandywine Country Club Assistant Professional Michael Balcar tied for eighth at 1-under 143 and Golf Dome Teaching Instructor Jim Troy tied for 10th at even-par 144.
Stone, the Director of Instruction at Belmont Country Club, won the Senior Division on his home course with rounds of 71 and 69 for a 4-under 140. Stone finished seven shots ahead of Gary Rusnak of Painesville, who posted 74-73 for a 3-over 147. Scott Pollack of Chagrin Falls and Jon Jones of Warren tied for third at 9-over 153.
More than 140 players competed across the two divisions in the 36-hole event.
