Match play kicked off at the 103rd Women’s Ohio Amateur Championship on Wednesday at Moraine Country Club in Dayton. The Women’s Ohio State Golf Association, in conjunction with the Northern Ohio Golf Association and Miami Valley Golf, hosted the event.
The Round of 32 featured 6 upsets and multiple matches that went to 18 holes. The biggest upset in the Round of 32 featured the 32 seed, Cara Heisterkamp, defeating the 1 seed, Emma Myers, in 17 holes.
“I was just really focused,” Heisterkamp said, “I love match play… so I feel like right out the gate it forced me to focus on what I need to do.”
We caught up with Cara Heisterkamp, the 32 seed, after she knocked off the 1 seed in the match play bracket.

Another highlight during Wednesday morning’s round was Addison Kartusch‘s hole-in-one on hole 5. Kartusch used her 42-degree wedge on the 125-yard par 3 to sink the shot.
The Round of 16 commenced Wednesday afternoon. Heisterkamp kept her morning momentum, winning her match over Alexa Prettyman at 7 & 6.
Meadow Tian and Emily Holzopfel‘s match was the closest this afternoon. The pair took their match to 19 holes, where Tian ultimately earned her spot in the Quaterfinals.
Match play will continue Thursday morning at 7:30 am with the Quarterfinals and continue into the afternoon with the Semifinal matches.
