The 6th Annual Lewis Cup, once again, brought rainy, chilly weather to kick off the weekend. The Northern Ohio Golf Association hosted twelve Amateurs and twelve Senior/Super Senior Amateurs at Westfield Country Club’s South Course for round 1, where players competed in the biggest team event of NOGA’s season.
To start, six teams of two from each side played a 9-Hole Four-Ball match, immediately followed by a 9-Hole Foursomes match against the same set of competitors.
The day started with both sides finishing their Four-Ball matches tied at 3 points each.
The Amateurs gained a full point from the pairing of Brian Smith + Chris Brown, while the Senior Amateurs picked up their full point from the team of Captain Howard Clendenin + Dean Cutlip. The rest of the Four-Ball matches ended in a tie.
The second round of matches was a different story. Players continued the day with nine holes worth of Foursomes matches.
The Amateurs surged ahead with teams of Rick Deichert + Garrett Frank, Shaun Kloetzer + Adam Pry, Brett Eley + Tim Straka, and Captain Lucas Liberatore + Daniel Mosher all winning their respective matches.
The Senior Amateurs secured a match win from the team of Mike Belacic + Scott Winckowski to help offset the Amateurs’ lead.
With the Senior Amateurs trailing just behind the Amateurs, Sunday will prove to be an exciting final round for both teams.

Sunday’s 12 singles matches, worth one point each, will decide which side claims the Lewis Cup for 2026. The match-ups, which begin at 9 am at Westfield Country Club’s North Course, are as follows:
