Adaptive players from across the nation teed it up for the first round of the 4th Annual Ohio Adaptive Open hosted by the Northern Ohio Golf Association on Saturday morning at Seneca Golf Course in Broadview Heights. The nearly perfect weather set up the day for a record-breaking round and all-around competitive golf across the entire field of players.
Mario Dino came ready to play from the start. Dino, who plays in the Coordination Impairment Flight, started his round with three back-to-back birdies and made the turn at 3-under. The Denver, Colorado, native played the back nine bogey-free to card a tournament-low score of 4-under-par 68.
Ricky Reilly, the Short Stature Flight leader, found himself in second in the Men’s Overall Division after round 1. Reilly followed up his front nine with a bogey-free 35 on the back nine to finish the day just 1-over-par.
2025 Ohio Adaptive Open runner-up Cassie Sengul will take a one-stroke lead into Sunday after posting a 78 for her opening round. The rising sophomore, who plays on the Drew University Golf Team, carded two consistent nines and is ready to keep the momentum into Sunday in hopes of claiming her first Ohio Adaptive Open Women’s Overall title.
Ryanne Jackson of St. Petersburg, Florida, finished just 1 stroke back of Sengul at 79 after round 1. Jackson will look to gain the lead and become a two-time champion in the Ohio Adaptive Open as her previous win was in the inaugural year.
The final round of the 4th Ohio Adaptive Open Championship will commence at 7:30 am off holes 1 & 10 at Seneca Golf Course on Sunday morning.
