Jack Hanus + Derek Miller + David Laib started their Shamble day spectacularly at Chippewa Golf Club: they made a pair of eagles at the first hole after driving the green to with 12 feet, then made a pair of birdies on the long, uphill par-3 second hole after stuffing their tee shot.
That’s how you get your team to 6-under par in the blink of an eye.
Play for this Akron District Golf Association event was in the Shamble format: all three players hit a tee shot, the best tee shot is selected, then all team members play out their own ball from there, with the best 2 of 3 scores making up the team score.
After their dream start, the victorious trio shot a sizzling 10-under par 60 on the front nine, then came home in 6-under par 66 to cruise to a four shot victory. They also won three of the seven skins scored on the day.
The ADGA is working on plans to finish out the season with a Golfer of the Year Championship at a top club in the fall. Watch this website for details…
