The Northern Ohio Golf Association continued the Great Lakes Auto Scratch Series at Medina Country Club in Medina with the Stroke Play #3 event. A total of 78 players teed it up on the sunny, windy Monday morning in hopes of taking their Division title and earning points toward Player of the Year status.
Just one player in the entire field managed to make their way into the red numbers. Mark Borlin of Silver Lake Country Club captured the Senior Division after finishing with a 1-under-par 71. Borlin’s round was highlighted by 5 birdies, a skin on hole 6, and a 2-under-par front nine to allow him a 2-stroke margin over Paul Krueger and Ron Chapman, who tied for second place.
The top of the leaderboard was tight in the Championship Division. Ultimately, Matthew Roth, Lucas Liberatore, and Daniel Mosher all finished tied for the win at even-par 72. The trio battled until the end, each carding consistent scores throughout the day to earn their shared title.
In the Super Senior Division, Marc Fried from Signature of Solon carded an even-par 72 to take his title. Fried carded 6 birdies throughout the day to finish just 1 shot clear of Lou Boardman and Greg Myers.
The final event on the NOGA Great Lakes Auto Scratch Series schedule is the Stroke Play #4 event at Youngstown Country Club in Youngstown on September 2nd.
