Doubles Golf Qualifying continued on Monday with the Northern Ohio Golf Association’s Trillium Creek Dermatology Doubles Golf Qualifier #3 at Columbia Hills in Columbia Station. Players competed in a “Better-Shot” scramble format for the chance to advance to the Trillium Creek Dermatology NOGA Doubles Golf Championship on September 2nd at StoneWater Golf Club in Highland Heights.
Winners at StoneWater will earn the opportunity to represent Ohio at the U.S. Doubles Golf® National Championship and compete for a national title.
Stephen Dunn and Michael Benko took the top spot on the leaderboard with a gross 7-under-par 64. The pair carded eight gross birdies to take the title, but only finished one shot clear of second.
Brant Harbert and Johnny Mooney were right on Dunn and Benko’s tail at 6-under-par. Harbert and Mooney made seven gross birdies, finishing the day with two back-to-back birdies to fall just short of the title.
The Senior Division was topped by James Williams and Thomas Benda, who finished with a score of 1-over-par 72.
Dunn and Benko had a clean sweep as they also won the Net Division. The pair finished net 10-under-par and even had two net eagles.
The final event on the NOGA Trillium Creek Dermatology Doubles Golf Series is the Doubles Golf Championship at StoneWater Golf Club in Highland Heights on September 2nd.
