The Northern Ohio Golf Association kicked off its Trillium Creek Dermatology Doubles Golf Series with the first qualifier of the season at Eagle Creek Golf Club in Norwalk. Players competed in a “Better-Shot” scramble format for the chance to advance to the Trillium Creek NOGA Doubles Golf Championship set for September 2 at StoneWater Golf Club in Highland Heights.
Winners at StoneWater will earn the opportunity to represent Ohio at the U.S. Doubles Golf® National Championship and compete for a national title.
In the Men’s Division, Brian Smith and Christopher Brown led the way with a 6-under 65. Evelyn Johnson and Tracy McDonough secured their spot out of the Women’s Division with an even-par 71.
The low round of the day came from the Senior Division, where Allen Freeman and Mark Borlin fired a 9-under 62, highlighted by an eagle on the 15th hole after Borlin holed out from 145 yards.
In the Net Division, Frank and Patrick Gioffre topped the field with a 12-under 59.
The next event on the NOGA Trillium Creek Dermatology Doubles Golf Series is the Doubles Golf Qualifier #2 at Trumbull Country Club in Warren on June 10th.
