Mike Heisterkamp of Chagrin Valley Country Club and Tom Waitrovich, a Life Member of the PGA of America, won the Holden Pro-Pro Shoot-Out on Monday at Lake Forest Country Club after advancing through the morning qualifier and surviving multiple playoffs in the afternoon finale.
The event began with a Two-Person Chapman qualifying round, where the top 10 teams advanced to the Shoot-Out. Kyle Buzaki of Glenmoor Country Club and Matthew Nimsuwan of Brookside Country Club earned medalist honors at 3-under-par 69 to lead the qualifying field. Heisterkamp and Waitrovich, Joe Sabatino and Matt Kiehle, and John Goodson and Bill Reilly each finished at 2-under 70 to secure spots in the Shoot-Out.
In the afternoon select drive alternate shot Shoot-Out, Heisterkamp and Waitrovich emerged after replaying the 18th hole for a second time to determine the champions. The duo survived both a chip-off and bunker-off during the deciding stretch. Buzaki and Nimsuwan finished second, while Tony Adcock and Tom Atchison tied for third with Cory Kumpf and Blake Sattler of Brookside Country Club.
The next Northern Ohio PGA team event is the Pro-Pro & Team Match Play Qualifier at Firestone Country Club South Course.
