The 2026 Northern Ohio PGA tournament season is officially underway, and it began in fitting fashion at historic Firestone Country Club with the Pro-Pro Premier, contested over two days on the Club’s renowned North and South Courses.
The event, sponsored by Ashworth (Darren Schubert), featured a competitive field of Northern Ohio PGA Professionals competing in a two-format test of team play.
Day one, played on the North Course, utilized a 1 Best Ball of 2 Shamble format and set the tone for a tightly contested leaderboard. At the top after round one were Gary Rusnak and Scott Pollack of 1899 Golf, tied at 7-under par with Jim Troy (The Golf Dome) and Mark Scott, Jr. (Westwood Country Club). Several teams remained within striking distance at 5-under heading into the final round.
The championship shifted to the South Course for round two, where teams competed in a 1 Best Ball of 2 (Fourball) format. Rusnak and Pollack delivered a steady closing round of 66 (-4) to secure the title at 11-under par, holding off a strong charge from the field.
Finishing in second place were Sean McGuire and DJ Holub of Pepper Pike Club, who posted one of the low rounds of the day with a 65 (-5) to reach 10-under.
Jim Troy and Mark Scott, Jr., leaders after day one, finished in solo third at 9-under following rounds of 65-68.
The Northern Ohio PGA now turns its attention to next week’s Pro-Pro Scramble at Shady Hollow Country Club, continuing the early-season momentum.
