The 2026 U.S. Adaptive Open Qualifier took place on Thursday, May 7, after rainy weather on Wednesday resulted in postponing the event. Portage Country Club in Akron is one of only eight qualifying sites across the nation for the 5th U.S. Adaptive Open Championship. This year’s Championship will, once again, be held at Woodmont Country Club South Course in Rockville, MD, on July 6-8, 2026.

Despite wet course conditions, Josh Hunke of Canada earned medalist honors and secured his place in the Championship for the second year in a row. Hunke posted a 2-over par finish, narrowly defeating Chris Willis by just one stroke.

This year’s qualifier also featured a Women’s Division for the first time. Kelly Gorman of New York earned the division win and her spot in the Championship after carding an 82, capping off a strong performance.
