FINAL RESULTS: 2026 Northeast Ohio Amateur Championship

NEOA logoThe 96th Northeast Ohio Amateur Championship was certainly one to remember. For the second year in a row, Barberton’s Nolan Haynes claimed his spot at the top of the leaderboard, shooting 69 on Monday for a three-day total of 2-under par. Haynes is the first back-to-back NEOA Champion since 1991.

This victory was no easy feat for the current Kent State player. Haynes finished day 1 T7 after carding a 1-over, 71, on Saturday. Sunday’s 2-under 68 propelled him to the final pairing, giving Haynes a shot at the title.

Monday’s round for both Logan Sutto and Haynes was nearly identical as the pair both finished with 69s. Haynes and Sutto then entered a sudden-death playoff, where Haynes ultimately prevailed after 1 hole.

Back-to-back seems to have a good ring to it this year. The Senior Division champion, Howard Clendenin, is also a familiar face at the NEOA. Clendenin carded a 2-over par, 72, to finish a successful tournament, earning him the Senior title for the second year in a row.

However, Dave Antill wouldn’t make this win an easy one for Clendenin. The pair, both finishing 4-over for the tournament, entered a sudden-death playoff following their rounds. After just 1 playoff hole, Clendenin earned his spot on the podium.

The Mid-Amateur Division was a tight race throughout the day. The leaderboard continued to shift through the final holes, but ultimately, Powell native Jon Kaplan took the title. His 3-over par, 73 on Monday, drove him to the top of the pack.

Ray McNiece ran away with the title in the Super Senior Division. McNiece led the tournament all 3 days and finished the tournament just 2 shots clear of Akron’s Tom Skidmore.

NEOWA champion, Sabrina Coffman, tees off on hole 1

After a 1-year hiatus of the Women’s Division, the ladies were back and ready to play this weekend. Sabrina Coffman of Brunswick finished just 2 shots clear of second place.

Coffman started the weekend 5 shots back and went to work on Sunday to climb her way up the leaderboard. After carding a 1-over, 71 on Sunday, Coffman took the momentum into Monday’s round. Her 4-over, 74, earned her the title of the 5th Northeast Ohio Women’s Amateur Champion.
