Wooster’s Mason Frazier + Andrew Kaye of Avon Lake posted a solid round of 10-under par 61 on a cold and cloudy Saturday at Turkeyfoot Lake Golf Links to win the 2026 season-opening Akron District Golf Association event.
Frazier + Kaye played steady golf on a difficult day, making five birdies on each nine to finish one shot better than the teams of Blake Ring-Fish + Andrew Strope from Rayland and David Canter + Kenny Koprivec from Canal Fulton and New Franklin.
Ring-Fish + Strope had a sizzling back nine, shooting 6-under par 29 there, while Canter + Koprivec made eagle on the reachable par-4 15th to get into the hunt and had a chance to tie for the victory at the last but couldn’t get their birdie effort to drop.
Elyria’s Antonio Blanton + Walter Robertson of Cleveland were the big winners on the day (by a lot!), finishing in a tie for fourth place at 8-under par 64 and sweeping both skins pots with an eagle-3 on the long, into-the-wind par-5 14th hole. Ben Fisher + Matt Stout from Avon and Shaker Heights shared in the T4.
The next event on the Akron District schedule is the ADGA Ungvary Memorial Jumble at Goodpark on Saturday, May 23 at Good Park Golf Course in Akron.
