Reilly and Goodson Capture Holden Pro-Pro Title at Chippewa Golf Club
Chippewa Golf Club set the stage for an exciting day of competition as Northern Ohio PGA professionals teed it up in the Holden Pro-Pro.
The event featured a Chapman format for qualifying, where each player on the two-person team hit a tee shot, then hit their partner’s ball for the second shot, before selecting one ball and alternating shots until the ball was holed. The top ten teams from qualifying (USGA Recommended method was used to break ties) advanced to a Shoot-Out, played in a select drive alternate shot format until only two teams remained.
After posting a solid 4-under-par 67 (-4) in the qualifying round, Bill Reilly (Fox Den Golf Course) and John Goodson (Lake Forest Country Club) continued their strong play in the Shoot-Out. They faced defending champions Cory Kumpf and Blake Sattler (Brookside Country Club) in the final matchup.
Reilly and Goodson tied Kumpf and Sattler on the 18th hole, forcing a playoff. On the second trip down the 18th, Reilly and Goodson made par while Kumpf and Sattler made bogey, securing the 2025 Holden Pro-Pro title.
The next stop on the Northern Ohio PGA tournament schedule is Monday, May 5, at Firestone Country Club’s South Course for the Pro-Pro & Team Match Play Qualifier.
